Abstract

The creation of genetically modified or transgenic organisms involves advanced biotechnology techniques, such as recombinant DNA technology. In simple words, this technique consists of using DNA molecules from different sources, which are combined into one molecule to create a new set of genes. However, this gene is accompanied by genes from other species, which generally are marker genes for antibiotic resistance derived from bacteria and promoter genes from viruses, which allow the expression of the inducible gene.

The GMO's have contributed to a quietly and efficiently revolution that the man is unable to detect with the naked eye, mainly focused on food production of this nature, within which are rated as the most common, the modifications that incorporate genes from bacteria, which make resistant plants to herbicides.

This document consists of a complete and simple bibliographic reference about Genetically Modified Organisms and their characteristics.
